Brecon is a charming and friendly market town with many interesting places to visit, such as the Brecknock Museum, 24th Regiment Museum, Cathedral, Theatre and Cinema. The Brecon Beacons National Park Visitors Centre is approx. 5 miles away.

There are craft shops selling Welsh cloths, pottery and souvenirs.

As well as the Barn at Brynich Restaurant, which is on site, there are many attractive pubs and restaurants are in the town or within a few miles of the park.

Sport and leisure are well catered for with a leisure centre in the town, two golf courses, hill walking, climbing, pony trekking and an indoor climbing wall. Also sailing, canoeing, boating, swimming, fishing, water skiing and wind surfing are all nearby.

A wide variety of walks over the Brecon Beacons, beside the River Usk or along the Brecon & Monmouthshire Canal will delight the rambler. Brecon is half an hours walk along the canal tow path, which is also part of the Taff trail cycle route from Brecon to Cardiff. The canal crosses the River Usk on the Brynich Aqueduct approximately 1.5km from the park and canal boat trips pass within 200 meters of the site.
