Accessibility & Inclusivity
This is a big one and of course, depends on the needs of you and your guests. It’s key to remember that not all disabilities are visible, and when we say the words “inclusive” and “accessible”, they can relate to a lot of different things, so it might be a good idea to ask your guests if they have any needs to be aware of.
At Brynich, we have some permanent ramps, and some ramps that can be installed on the day. We have disabled restrooms in each room with support rails and ample space. All are suitable for heavy power wheelchairs. All doorways to the venue can be double doors.
Our Woolpack cottage is fully accessible. Retaining its beautiful oak beams and low ceilings it is rustic and cosy. Ideal for guests that have mobility issues as it is all ground floor, has a walk-in shower, widened wheelchair friendly doorways and support rails in the bathroom. There is also a sofa bed suitable for one adult in the lounge area.
We can work with you to ensure both the ceremony and reception layout is accessible for wheelchair users or guests with limited mobility.
We have disabled parking and access at the front of the venue, and next to the Woolpack cottage. There is a path from the disabled parking to the venue. The floor in the main barn is Flagstone flooring, which can be uneven. We would recommend wearing suitable shoes for anyone with mobility issues.
If you have guests who are hard of hearing, you may wish to hire an interpreter or a hearing loop - we can help you to source this if you require support.
You may also want to reserve seats near the front of the ceremony for hard of hearing guests. Suppliers can also print newspapers for you which could include your vows and key information.
We can offer all of our wedding documentation in large print on request.
If you wish your marriage or civil partnership to take place in Welsh, Powys registrars can arrange for a Welsh speaking Registrar, you just need to contact them to ask. Celebrant services can usually offer this too. If you wish to include any other languages in your ceremony, you are more than welcome to do so. If you need help finding someone suitable, we'll lend a hand.
Our catering partners can work with you to ensure all dietary requirements and allergies are catered for. It’s worth putting a small note on your RSVP card to ask guests about any food allergies and dietary restrictions.
When it comes to signature cocktails, have a "mocktail" version so that your pregnant or sober friends can join in on the fun. We can also provide a variety of non alcoholic options for your drinks reception and toasting drinks.
It's not only important to book a venue that meets your vision, but also your values. Whether that's an LGBTQ+ friendly wedding venue, or a sensory inclusive venue. Ditching the gender norms can make all the difference, little changes such as gender neutral wedding outfits for the bridal party, being announced in to your “friends and family” instead of “ladies and gentlemen” or having a “flower Mamgu” instead of children, will create a welcoming environment for all guests. We truly believe that everyone should be able to get married in a venue they can be themselves in.
You could let guests know they are free to wear whatever they feel comfortable in. This will be positive for any neurodiverse guests.
It's absolutely ok to have a flexible timeline with plenty of big gaps on your wedding day, talk to us in advance and we can help you plan your day to suit your needs.
Use inclusive wedding suppliers! By supporting businesses that are encouraging positive changes in the wedding industry, you are helping create a more inclusive future for other people who choose to get married. These suppliers understand the importance of celebrating human nature in every shape or form or identity. We always advise meeting your suppliers before booking, as they’ll be a huge part of your day and should enhance your experience.
Lastly, have you considered if your venue is dog friendly? This can be a huge barrier for lots of couples who wish to have their furry friend by their side on their wedding day. Both our venue and cottages are dog friendly and we can recommend a great dog sitter to help out during your wedding weekend.
Our team are all here to help make your wedding as enjoyable as possible. Please get in touch with us if you would like to have a chat about any accessibility requirements to see how we can help.
